Four more officials of Jashore CDC placed under suspension

Four more officials arrested on charge for killing three teenagers and injuring 15 others at Jashore Child Development Center (JCDC) have been placed under suspension.

They were suspended on Sunday (August 16) by an office order from the Directorate of Social Services.

The suspended officials are- Assistant Superintendent (Probation Officer) Masum Billah, Physical Instructor AKM Shahanur Alam, Psycho Social Counsellor Md. Mushfiqur Rahman and Technical Instructor (Welding) Omar Farooq.

On Monday (August 17), letter of suspension of four officials were uploaded on the website of the Directorate of Social Services. Earlier, on August 14, the centre's caretaker (Assistant Director) Abdullah Al Masud was suspended.

On August 13, three teenagers were killed and at least 15 others were injured when inmates were brutally beaten up at the Jashore Child Development Center (Correction Center). Roka Mia, father of the slain teenager Parvez Hasan Rabbi, filed a murder case with Jashore Kotwali Police Station on the night of August 14. Authorities at the JCDC were accused in the case. Police arrested five officers and employees, including the Assistant Director of the center, in the case.

They were produced in the court on Saturday. After the hearing, Jashore Judicial Magistrate Mahadi Hasan placed on remand of Center Superintendent (Assistant Director) Abdullah Al Masud, Assistant Superintendent (Probation Officer) Masum Billah, Physical Instructor AKM Shahanur Alam for five days while Psycho Social Counselor Md. Mushfiqur Rahman and technical instructor (welding) Omar Farooq were granted a three-day remand. The remand of Mushfiqur Rahman and Omar Farooq ended on Monday. Investigating officer Rakibuzzaman said the two would be produced in court on Tuesday (August 18).
