Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has warned the BCL leaders and workers that the conspirators are still active to carry on the politics of killings and murders. Conspiracies are still going on at home and abroad. The anti-development evil forces are still lurking around. Violent communal evils are still waiting for the opportunity. They do not want development, peace and comfort in Bangladesh. It is their passion to move forward on the path of prosperous future under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. They want to take this country to Pakistani ideology again. They want a bloody desert plagued by conflict. They want to stop the country from moving forward by spreading the poisonous vapor of communalism.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting to commemorate 'Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib' on National Mourning Day organized by Dhaka University BCL on Monday (August 17) afternoon.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman spoke as the main speaker in the virtual meeting along with Bangladesh Chhatra League President Al Nahyan Khan Joy, General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharya. The meeting was chaired by Sanjit Chandra Das, President of Dhaka University Chhatra League. Saddam Hussein, General Secretary of Dhaka University, conducted the program.
He said BNP and the word corruption are very much synonymous. During their time, the country became five-time world champion in corruption. They institutionalized corruption. By repealing Article 7 from the party democracy, the self-confessed corrupt has been made the head of the party. For those who have recognized themselves as corrupt as a party, talking about irregular corruption in their mouths sounds like ‘Ram Nam’ in the mouth of ghosts.
Obaidul Quader said, people of Bangladesh can sleep now because Deshratna Sheikh Hasina is awake. In an independent country, the Father of the Nation and his family were killed in a medieval manner and given state legitimacy. This heinous legalization process of the murder cycle continued in the country for many years. General Ziaur Rahman not only rehabilitated the August 15 assassins with shelter and indulgence. They blocked the way for justice by issuing an indemnity ordinance. Ziaur Rahman tarnished the constitution achieved through the war of liberation by blocking the way for justice in the constitution through the controversial 5th amendment.
He said that while they are spreading propaganda today, there is no justice in the country. We have not been able to seek justice for 21 years, let alone justice. We were stripped of rights. They are talking about human rights today. Who carried out the grenade attack on August 21? Whose prime target was Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina. When we spoke the truth, Mirza Fakhrul said that General Zia was being belittled. Who gave Bangabandhu's killers a chance to leave the country safely? Who rewarded the murderers with jobs in different embassies. Khandaker Mushtaq, the beneficiary of Mujib's assassination, has appointed Ziaur Rahman chief of the armed forces. If we tell the truth, their leader is belittled. Murderers and supporters of murders must be held accountable in the throes of history.
Quader said the August 15 brutal killings and the August 21 grenade attack were a continuation of the same conspiracy. The prime target on August 15 was Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of our geographical liberation and the prime target of the grenade attack on August 21 was the architect of our economic emancipation Deshratna Sheikh Hasina. After BNP-Jamaat came to power in 2001, they turned the country into a death valley with the blood of 21,000 leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated organizations.
He said that they want to create instability in the academies through various tactics and sub-strategies. They want opportunities to fish in muddy waters. But as long as Deshratna Sheikh Hasina is there, as long as there are indomitable youth of Bangladesh Chhatra League, no conspiracy will get water. Under the leadership of Deshratna Sheikh Hasina, progress will be made in building a prosperous Bangladesh.
Calling for maintaining the reputation of the BCL at this time of progress, he said that organizational measures should be taken against those who would disrupt the party discipline. Sheikh Hasina's cleansing campaign against irregularities and corruption is carrying the same message for all.
