Tangail: The body of a teenager named Fahima Akhter (7) has been recovered in a boat capsize incident at Nagarpur in Tangail. However, the Fire Service said that 10 people are still missing.
The incident took place at 7 pm on Wednesday (August 19). The identity of the missing person was not known.
The deceased was identified as Fahima Akter, daughter of Omar Farooq of Berapusha village in the upazila.
Nagarpur Fire Service Station Officer Md. Mehedy said a boat race was organized at Paunan Turki Beel in Nagarpur Sadar Union in the afternoon. Thousands of people came with their families to see the boat race. At this time a boat of the visitors sank. There were about 60-70 visitors in that boat. Many people were able to swim to the shore when the boat was sinking, but 11 people, including baby Fahima Akhter went missing. Later, the Fire Service recovered the body of Fahima Akter. 10 people are still missing.
Md. Mehedy further said that the Fire Service divers have left Dhaka to rescue the missing persons.
