VCs decide to hold test in for admission in public universities

Dhaka: Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was decided to give grades without taking higher secondary and equivalent examinations, but the vice-chancellors have decided to admit them to public universities through examinations.

The decision was taken at a virtual meeting of the Bangladesh University Council, an organization of public university vice-chancellors, on Saturday (October 17). Chaired by Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology VC Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Alam, President of the organization, VCs of different public universities participated in the virtual meeting.

In this regard, Professor Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, ‘We have decided that examinations will be held for the admission of students in the universities. However, no decision has been made on how to test online or in person.

National University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Haroon Aur Rashid said, ‘We have decided to take the admission test online. Bangabandhu Digital University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Munaj Noor developed software will be used in the on line admission test.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, there was confusion in the university admission process after the government decided to give grades without taking higher secondary and equivalent examinations. The Ministry of Education also said that higher secondary results will be given on the basis of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination results.
