Admission in 19 public universities to be held on cluster based

The authorities of 19 public universities of the country have determined the method of cluster admission test. This test will be based on multiple choice questions (MCQ) of 100 marks. However, when the admission test will be held it depends on the situation in Corona.

The procedure was decided at a meeting of the vice-chancellors of 19 universities on Saturday (December 19). Professor Mizanur Rahman, joint convener of the cluster-based admission test program and vice-chancellor of Jagannath University, said this.

He said, ‘Three tests will actually be held in three days to control the Corona situation. All universities will have test centers. Students will be able to choose the test center at their convenience. There will be three separate examinations for Science, Humanities and Business Education (Commerce) based on the syllabus of Higher Secondary. There will be no separate test as before for change of category.

Professor Mizanur Rahman said, those who will pass HSC and equivalent examinations in 2019 and 2020 will be able to take part in the admission test. Students in the Humanities group must have a minimum total GPA-6 in the SSC and HSC or equivalent examinations, a minimum GPA of 6.5 in the commerce department and a minimum total GPA-7 in the two science exams. However, if any one is below GPA-3 in any exam, he cannot apply.

He added, Humanities group will be tested in Bengali, English and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). There will be 40 marks in Bengali, 35 marks in English and 25 marks in ICT. In Business Education (Commerce) there will be examinations in Accounting 25 marks, Management 25 marks, Language 13 marks in Bengali and 12 marks in English and ICT 25 marks. Science students will have to take exams in Language 10 out of 20 marks in Bengali and 10 marks in English, Chemistry 20 marks, Physics 20 marks and will have to appear ICT, Mathematics and Biology. Of these, ICT, Mathematics and Biology are the two subjects to be tested. Each of which will have 20 marks.

Students will have the opportunity to take the exam for the second time (2019 and 2020). However, he said that the university concerned will decide which universities will admit the students who have appeared for the second time.

The 19 universities that have decided for admission in cluster system are: Islamic University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Khulna University, Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology, Maulana Bhasani University of Science and Technology, Noakhali University of Science and Technology, Jagannath University, Cumilla University. National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Jashore University of Science and Technology, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, Pabna University of Science and Technology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Goplaganj, Barishal University, Rangamati University of Science and Technology, Rabindra University, Shahazadpur, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Sheikh Hasina University and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib University of Science and Technology.
