Mild to moderate cold spell may continue for one or two more days

The meteorological department has forecast mild to moderate cold spell across the country for the next one or two days. However, since Sunday morning, the cold wave has started to cover almost the entire country including the northern, central and southern parts of the country.

This information was given on the website of Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Sunday (December 20) in the forecast for the next 24 hours from 6 pm.

According to the forecast, the extension of the sub-continental high pressure zone is located in the western part of West Bengal and adjoining areas. The normal light pressure of the season is located in the South Bay. As a result, the weather across the country may remain dry with partly cloudy skies. From midnight to morning, moderate to heavy fog may fall in some parts of the river basin of the country and light to moderate fog elsewhere in the country.

The forecast further said that mild to moderate cold wave is likely to continue over Rangpur Division, Gopalganj, Sitakunda, Feni, Srimangal, Pabna, Badalgachhi, Jessore, Kumarkhali, Chuadanga, Barisal and Bhola areas and it may continue. Nighttime temperatures may rise slightly across the country and daytime temperatures may remain almost unchanged.

On the other hand, meteorologists have expressed fears that the temperature across the country may rise from December 23. The amount of fog may also increase. Meanwhile, the cold wave may start again at the end of this month.

The lowest temperature recorded in the country on Sunday was seven degrees Celsius in Tetulia. Last Saturday, the minimum temperature in Rajarhat of Rangpur division was 6.6 degrees Celsius. Besides, 13.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Dhaka, 10.5 degrees in Mymensingh, 13.2 degrees in Chittagong, 11.7 degrees in Sylhet, 10.4 degrees in Rajshahi, 11 degrees in Rangpur, 10.5 degrees in Khulna and 9.3 degrees in Barisal.
