Country's foreign reserve has reached at a new height due to a surge in remittance ahead of eid-ul-fitr.

Bangladeshi expatriates have sent US $ 206 crore in the country in April, 2021 which is equivalent to TK 17,510 crore. Expatriates had sent US $ 109 crore at the same period of the last year.

This is the new record in the country's remittance history which has exceeded all previous records. .

According to Bangladesh Bank, expatriates have sent US $ 191 crore 95 lakh remittance in March and US $ 178 crore remittance in February in the current fiscal year.

Bankers said the communication system has become limited due to ongoing lockdown. Many Muslim countries are sending assistance on the occasion of Ramadan. Many banks are giving 1 percent extra money besides 2 percent incentives for remittance. Many people are sending Zakat's money for poor from abroad. Moreover, expatriates are sending money before eid. As a result, foreign remittance has increased ahead of eid.
