‘Backward marginalized people dominate along with development’

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said in his budget proposal that Bangladesh is moving forward on the path directed by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

AHM Mustafa Kamal presented the 50th Budget of Bangladesh in the Jatiyo Sangsad(JS) on Thursday (June 3) under the theme 'Priority of Life and Livelihood, Bangladesh of the Future'. This is his third budget as Finance Minister.

In his budget speech, Mustafa Kamal said, "In the national budget, we usually formulate a development road map by moving forward with the combination of short, medium and long-term action plans." But due to Covid-19 pandemic, not all the data is fully available to us this year as well. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh was able to cope with the initial impact of Covid-19 when it was on the path of economic transition faster than other countries. That's when the second, somewhere in the world, the third shock began, and its impact is strong everywhere. Therefore, in our current budget, along with the development of the country and the nation, the backward people of the country - marginalized people and their livelihood are getting importance.

The Finance Minister said Bangladesh has changed in many ways in the last five decades. Not only did Bangabandhu's everlasting ideals change and his lively presence in all spheres of life of the nation Bangladesh is moving forward on the path directed by him. This year, the transition from a least developed country to a developing country has been added to the gathering of the two senior streams of the golden jubilee of independence and the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation. Due to this, Bangladesh has got a place in the world assembly at a unique height. In this way, InshaAllah, the realization of all our dreams including 2030, 2031, 2041 and 2100 will be achieved.

He said that the dream of our beloved Father of the Nation, it will move forward on the path of realizing the golden Bangladesh, will go far, far, far - continuous.

It may be mentioned that in the fiscal year 2021-2022, the size of the budget or the total expenditure has been estimated at Tk. 6 lakh 3 thousand 681 crore, which is 17.5 percent of the GDP. The total allocation for other sectors including management has been set at Tk. 3,78,357 crore and the annual development program has been allocated at Tk. 2,25,324 crore.
