12 lakh doses of US made Moderna vaccines have arrived in the country under the global vaccine delivery platform Covax.
Emirates Airlines Flight EK-584 landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Bangladesh at 11:20 pm on Friday (July 2).
The Minister of Health, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the US Ambassador were present in front of Terminal 2 next to the VIP Lounge.
Earlier, the vaccine and passenger carrying flight left Dubai for Bangladesh at 5:06 pm local time in Dubai. It is learned that another 13 lakh Moderna corona vaccines will arrive in Dhaka on Saturday.
Earl Robert Miller, the US Ambassador, tweeted on social media on June 26, "I am happy to announce that the US people will help vaccinate Bangladeshi people with 25 lakh doses of the Moderna vaccines through GAVI." As the largest supplier of Covax, the United States is committed to increasing the supply of vaccines around the world to combat corona.
Meanwhile, 20 lakh doses of Chinese Corona vaccines reached Dhaka on Friday (July 2) night at 1 am under Covax. Huang Yan, deputy chief of the Chinese mission in Dhaka, said this.
He said in a message that a flight of Bangladesh Biman brought the consignment of 20 lakh vaccines made by Synopharm from Beijing Airport. The aircraft landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1 am.
