DU authorities reopen halls after 18 months

Students of two academic years of Dhaka University finally entered the halls on Tuesday morning after a long wait of 18 months.

Students, who had at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine, entered their respective halls showing vaccination certificate and university ID card around 8:00am after the gates opened.

Dr Abdul Basir, convener of the provost standing committee, confirmed the matter to media.

He told the reporters: “Soon, students of other academic years will also be able to move back to their respective halls.”

Banners containing the rules was seen hung in front of the halls. Sinks were also installed with soaps for students to wash hands before entering.

University Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Md. Akhtaruzzaman was scheduled to visit Bijoy Ekattor hall at 10:00am and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall at 10:30am.
