Shuva Mahalaya, the biggest religious festival of Hindus, has been celebrated on Wednesday. Devisheva begins from this day.

The invocation of Goddess Durga through Sri Sri Chandipath is known as Mahalaya. And in this ‘Chandi’ there is a description of the creation of Goddess Durga. This Mahalaya is an important part of the autumn Durga Puja.

According to the Puranas, Goddess Durga appeared on this day. From this day the counting of the days of Durga Puja begins. Mahalaya means waiting for 6 days to worship the mother. And on this day the eyes of the goddess are given.

Although Durga Puja will start from October 11 through Shasthi Puja, the worshipers will be able to hear the arrival of Durga Puja from today. This inaugural day of Durga Puja will be celebrated with great pomp all over the country. A special function has been organized in other temples of the country including the capital Dhaka this morning.

According to the calendar, the goddess will come this time on horseback, will say goodbye on a cradle. Five days after the Mahalaya, according to the English calendar, the sixth will be celebrated on 11 October through Bodhon. The goddess will be abandoned on October 15.

According to the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council, the formality of Durga Puja will begin on Monday, October 11 with Bodhon. The Goddess will bid farewell on the sixth day of October 11, the seventh day of October 12, the eighth day of October 13, the ninth day of October 14 and the tenth day of October 15.

To the Bengali Hindus, Mahisasurmardini Goddess Durga is worshiped as a symbol of destruction of all evil forces. Mahamaya is the source of infinite energy.

According to the Puranas, on the day of Mahalaya, Goddess Durga got the responsibility of killing Mahishasura. According to Shiva's boon, no man or deity can ever kill Mahishasur. As a result, the infinitely merciful Mahisasura expels the gods from heaven and wants to be the ruler of the universe.

The trio of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva jointly created the infallible femininity in the form of ‘Mahamaya’ and the ten-armed lioness of the gods, Goddess Durga, defeated and killed Mahisasura in a nine-day battle.

Another aspect of Mahalaya is that on this Mahalaya date, those who are fatherless and motherless pay homage to their ancestors and wish them peace of mind. According to the traditional religion, the deceased souls are sent to the mortal world on this day. The gathering of the departed soul is called Mahalaya. From Mahalaya to Mahalaya. On this occasion, the Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee has organized a special function at the Dhakeswari National Temple in the capital at 5.30 am today. To celebrate the day on the occasion of the arrival of the Goddess, the Gulshan Banani Sarbajanin Puja Parishad has started organizing the Goddess's reception at the Banani ground in the morning.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad said that the number of Durga Puja mandapas across the country was 30,213 last year. This time it has increased to 32,118 Which is one thousand 905 more than last year. The number of puja mandapas in Dhaka is 238 which is four more than last year.
