The government will vaccinate 12-17 year old children this week to conain Covid-19 and initially, children and adolescents from 21 districts of the country will be vaccinated.
Director General (DG) of the Department of Health ABM Khurshid Alam came up with the disclosure while takling to reporters after a ceremony.
The DG said the process of registration of children and adolescents will be completed through educational institutions.
Separate vaccination centers will also be set up for them, he added.
It is learned that the government will vaccinate children between the ages of 12 and 17 with Pfizer vaccine.
The government currently has 60 lakh Pfizer vaccines in its hands and a total of 30 children will be vaccinated keeping the second dose for them, the newsmen wer told.
Dr Khurshid Alam said the Health Minister had recently visited Geneva and talked with the DG of WHO about the Covid-19 vaccination of children and adolescents.
