Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained Ruma Sarkar, an assistant professor at Begum Badrunnesa Government Women's College in the capital, for spreading rumors on social media Facebook.

She was arrested on Wednesday (October 20) morning from her home on Bailey Road in the city.

Director of RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Commander Khandaker Al Moin confirmed the matter to media.

The RAB official said Ruma Sarkar used the social media Facebook to spread religious incitement, lies and rumors.

That video doesn't match any previous and recent events. "There were fears that the sect might be ruined recently. That is why we are taking her into custody and interrogating."
