Government satisfied with investigation report, samples to be tested abroad to 100% certainty
The government is ‘satisfied’ with the preliminary investigation report submitted by the high-level investigation committee into the fire incident at the Secretariat, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said.
Talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Wednesday (January 1), Syeda Rizwana Hasan said this in response to a question in this regard.
She said the government is ‘satisfied’ with the preliminary investigation report. Even so, some samples are being taken abroad to be tested to 100% certain that it was an accident.
The Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser said, we are satisfied with the report given on the fire incident. The first thing is that the fire is really very scary, a cause of great concern for us. But we are the ones who work here, so if something happens, the first thing will be on our bodies. For those who work there, it is a very traumatizing matter.
If the fire incident is an 'accident', why are the evidence being sent abroad? In response to such a question, Rizwana Hasan said, some samples are being sent abroad to answer this question beyond doubt. One thing to note is that after any incident, we form so many views, opinions and decisions. Then if we hear something different, we no longer want to accept it.
She said, the experts who were there today showed us in close-up how the fire started and how it spread from one location to another due to the construction of the secretariat buildings. The dog that was mentioned had previously been to that floor. He slept comfortably on a cushion on a chair.
Rizwana Hasan said, some samples of the fire have been sent abroad because we want to be above all suspicion. If it was really sabotage, they showed how the incident could have happened. They showed clearly, in slow motion, from where the fire started. I think these are available to all of you.
Earlier, a high-level investigation committee formed under the leadership of the senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs said in its initial investigation report that the fire in Building No. 7 of the Secretariat occurred due to a loose electrical connection. The committee submitted the investigation report to the Chief Adviser on Tuesday.
