The Prime Minister's IT adviser and his son Sajeeb Wazed Joy have called for staying away from various misleading information about fuel price hike. In a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday night, Sajib Wazed Joy also called for knowing the truth without listening to rumors.

In a post titled 'Diesel price hike and some information, stay away from rumors - know the truth' given around 9 pm on Saturday, Joy said that the country is trying to spread various misconceptions in the wake of the recent diesel price hike. But in fact in 2013 the price of diesel in the country was Tk. 68 per liter, later in 2016 it was reduced by Tk. 65 by reducing Tk. 5 per liter. Since then, the price of diesel and kerosene has not increased in the last five and a half years. The price of fuel oil has continued to rise in the international market since the beginning of the current financial year. As a result, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation-BPC faced huge losses in the case of diesel.

In that post, he mentioned that in the last five and a half months, BPC has incurred a loss about Tk. 1147.60 crore for diesel. The extra money has to be counted to pay the dollar price.

Comparing Bangladesh with the diesel prices of neighboring countries, he said, "Our prices are lower than those of neighboring countries." For this reason, smugglers are smuggling diesel from here to neighboring countries.

He said the government is constantly coming up with thousands of crores of taka in subsidies for fuel oil. As a result, due to low prices in this country, smuggling is taking place abroad, which is to prevent this price increase and there is no room for confusion.
