In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, one newspaper after another stopped printing. And the English daily The Independent wrote its name in the list. However, an online version has been continuing in this national daily. But this time the English daily The Independent online was also permanently shut down.

The owners announced the final decision on Sunday (January 30) in the presence of all parties involved with the newspaper.

The all-out lockdown began with the closure of offices and courts due to the prevalence of coronavirus in the country. As a result, various offices and courts stopped keeping printed magazines even at home.

As a result, newspaper sales in Dhaka and outside Dhaka were halved during the lockdown. In that situation, printing of some newspapers was temporarily stopped to avoid losses. On April 6, 2020, The Independent entered the list.

Even though the printed magazine was closed, there was hope among the workers as the online version was on. On Sunday, the owner's announcement was also extinguished.

Beximco Group, one of the country's leading industrial groups, launched The Independent on March 26, 1995. The Independent was able to attract the attention of the readers from the very beginning due to its relatively fair and clean printing compared to the paper used in the country's newspaper world.
