Dhaka: Coronavirus vaccination program is underway in the country. In such a situation, those who have crossed the age of 12 will be vaccinated without registration, said Health Minister Zahid Malek.

He made the remarks while addressing the inaugural function of the newly added Critical Care, Dialysis Unit and Oxygen Plant at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the capital on Monday (February 14).

The health minister said more than 17 crore people have been vaccinated in the country so far. Of these, more than 10 crore people received the first dose. We still have 10 crore doses of vaccine. For this reason, people over 12 years of age, even if they do not have a national identity card or birth registration, can only get vaccinated with their name, age and mobile number.

Regarding the provision of vaccines, he said that many people have not yet taken or do not want to take the vaccine. We need to keep in mind that currently 85% of deaths from Covid are non-vaccinated. Non-vaccinated people are also at the top of the list. The country has done so well in Covid because of good medical services and timely vaccinations. That is why the rest of the people of the country have to come forward to get the vaccine. As Bangladesh is one of the most civilized nations in the world, such a large number of people have been vaccinated in such a short time. In the future too, Bangladesh will set an example of civilization and Bangladesh will be a role model of the world in tackling Covid.

Zahid Malek said Bangladesh remittances are on the rise where the whole world is in turmoil to corona, there is no food crisis in the country, people are not unfed anywhere, work on all mega projects including implementation of Padma Bridge is going on in full swing, economic growth is not slowing down, four new Medical University is being set up, 20 new medical colleges are being constructed, 10 district ICU beds and 10 bed dialysis beds are being constructed in all the district hospitals of the country. All this has been possible due to the tireless work of the country's health sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
