International Sound Awareness day observed in Faridpur

International Sound Awareness day jointly organized by district administration and Environment Directorate was observed here in a befitting manner.

In this connection a colorful rally was brought out in the town to create awareness among the people about the hazards of sound pollution for human health as well as environment.

The rally was followed by a discussion meeting held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Faridpur. DC Md. Quamrul Ahsan Talukdar PAA was the chief guest while it was chaired by ADC(Gen) Yasin Kabir.

Speakers addressing the discussion meeting highlighted the worse affect of noise pollution in our life. Speakers pointed out that generally noises generate from motor vehicles, industries, construction sites, use of indiscriminate use of loud speakers in the public gatherings, religious congregations and publicity for selling products. Noise pollutions are very much harmful for old, children and patients. Speakers put forward certain suggestions to the authorities concerned for reduction of noise pollution.

Among others educationist Prof. Md. Shahjahan, Prof. Rezvi Zaman, Rajendra College principal Prof. Ashim Kumer Saha, DD of Environment Md. Saeed Anowar, AD of Consumers Rights department Sohel Shaikh and Journalist Panna Bala took part in the discussion.

Earlier ADM Bipul Das and ENT specialist Dr. Ranjit Kumer Rudra made multimedia presentations of sound pollution and its prevention. ADM Bipul Das highlighted the legal aspects of the violators of sound reduction measures.

DC Md. Quamrul Ahsan Talukdar also discussed several aspects of noise pollution and its impact on the society and environment. He reminded the citizens to inform the district administration where there is deliberate violation of noise control measures. He assured the meeting that he would take immediate measures to set up warning signs of not to use horns in front of hospitals and educational institutions.
