Bangladesh is now a proper place for investment: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Bangladesh is now a suitable place for investors from the world including Japan.

She said this while speaking at an investment conference held in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday (April 27).

The Prime Minister said that Bangladesh is in a good position geographically. With its benefits, investors can take advantage of exporting products to neighboring countries. There are high-level forums on the Bangladesh platform for Japanese traders. Agreements exchanged between companies will bring prosperity to both countries. Japan's investment will bring prosperity to the progress of Bangladesh. Establishment of EZ in Narayanganj is a big progress. If Japan wants, space will be given to set up more EZs across the country. All facilities and security will be ensured for this.

She said, Bangladesh is a country of 170 million population. It is itself a growing market and home to a large market of nearly three billion consumers. By 2030, Bangladesh will become the ninth largest consumer market in the world, surpassing the UK and Germany. Opportunities in various sectors such as ICT, electronics, infrastructure, leather, textiles, hospitality and tourism, heavy industry, chemicals and fertilizers and SMEs have increased significantly. Our government is doing its best to facilitate smooth, easy and efficient ways of doing business.

The Prime Minister also said that we are building 100 economic zones, hi-tech and software parks for foreign investment. I want to assure the Japanese investors that Bangladesh is ready for you and you will have a great experience when you visit Bangladesh. You will get all the organization and structure facilities required for business facilitation.

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) jointly organized the conference titled 'Trade and Investment Opportunities between Bangladesh and Japan'.

In the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, 11 MoUs were signed between private companies of Bangladesh and Japan, including JCCI and FBCCI.
