Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina commented that Sheikh Kamal laid the foundation of modern sports of Bangladesh. She also said that if he was alive, the sport would have progressed further.

The Prime Minister said these words at the Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council Award and Birth Anniversary Celebration at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Saturday (August 5).

At the beginning of the day, the Prime Minister presented awards to ten individuals and two organizations in a total of eight categories for their contribution in the field of sports. The Bangabandhu Sports Scholarship was launched through this event.

Sheikh Hasina said, Sheikh Kamal was a versatile talent. But before he could contribute more in the field of sports, he had to drop out of the world. The Prime Minister also said that despite being the son of the head of state, Sheikh Kamal believed in a very simple life.

Sheikh Hasina said that Sheikh Kamal's organizational skills were strong, but he had no political ambition.

The Prime Minister said, when Sheikh Kamal got married, he had a small objection. His words were - I am still a student; How to get married? Where can I get money? I had a car at that time. I sold that car. I put some money into an account in his name. I said to him - ok, you don't have to touch anyone after marriage. Spend the money that will be in the account.

She said, Sheikh Kamal had no such demands. Lived very simply. He was very focused on the game. Was associated with football, cricket, hockey etc.

The Prime Minister said that once he (Sheikh Kamal) wanted to buy Adidas shoes for Abahani Club. I told him, write it down on paper. Because I don't know that much. Later he wrote on paper. Even today Sheikh Kamal's Adidas writing on paper floats before my eyes.
