The district administration has evacuated 250 families living at the foot of the hill in Akbarshah area of Chattogram due to the fear of landslides due to continuous rain.

Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman personally sent the families to the shelter on Saturday (August 5) night.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Masud Kamal, Kattali Circle Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Umar Farooq, Staff Officer to DC Plaban Kumar Biswas and Officer-in-Charge of Akbarshah Police Station were also present at this time.

It has been raining continuously in Chattogram for the past two days. Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman has divided the district administration into 6 circles to protect people's lives and property. The district administration is directing people to move away from dangerous places by miking every day.

Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said, I am working so that people do not have to die in the mountains. The district administration team is working every day to make everyone aware, starting from miking. Even today I myself have moved 250 families from dangerous hills to shelters. From dry food to daily meals are arranged for them. At-risk families from all hills of Chattogram have been instructed to stay in 19 shelters.

He also said that according to the instructions of the Supreme Court, the people living at the foot of the hill in Beltolighona have been evacuated from the dangerous places. Lawsuits and regular cases have been filed against those involved in hill cutting. Chattogram district administration is working with zero tolerance to protect hills.
