Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, my mother always stood by my father's side. She used to say to her father, 'Don't mind politics, but study'. My grandfather also told my father, "Whatever you do, you have to study". I don't know if father stayed out of jail for two consecutive years or not. But I saw my mother was never disappointed. She always managed everything including house and family.

She said these things at the 'Bangamata Award Giving' function organized at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (August 8). It was organized on the occasion of the 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib.

The Prime Minister said that Abba was suddenly released from prison on January 17, 1968 and was arrested again at the jail gate. He was taken straight from the jail gate to the cantonment and kept there. In the Agartala conspiracy case, 35 people including my father were arrested and subjected to inhuman torture. At that time, we could not know where the father was, whether he was alive or not, before the six months of the case. From that January to July....we only found out when the court sat for the first time, that day we saw that Abba was alive. My mother did not break down; she tried her best to find her father. Even the mother has been repeatedly interrogated by Pakistani intelligence agencies. An attempt was also made to implicate the mother in that case.

She said, my mother had a strange memory. She always remembered what he once heard or knew. We used to call mom, the living tape recorder. Our house was always under intelligence surveillance. Avoiding the eyes of the detectives, my mother used to go to different places to talk to the leaders and give instructions. My mother made the June 7 strike a complete success.
