Police do not make political statements. Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has commented they are doing their duty to protect law and order.

The IGP said this to the reporters on Tuesday (August 22) while visiting Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hobiganj Police Station, Ajay Chandra Dev, who is undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Ophthalmology in Sher Bangla Nagar area of the capital.

Regarding the allegation that the senior officers of law and order forces are making various political statements ahead of the elections, the IGP said, "In my view, no political statements have been observed from all the members of the law and order forces." They perform duties according to law and regulations. It is our legal responsibility to meet the responsibilities and challenges that will arise in maintaining law and order according to the law. This responsibility has been delegated. We are obliged to fulfill this responsibility. We are trained in law enforcement, taught law and given necessary logistical support in law enforcement. Whatever is necessary will be done to protect the life and property of the people.

Responding to allegations that the police are arresting BNP leaders and workers with old and useless weapons, the police chief said that such allegations are not correct. We have taken legal action with the weapons we got from them in the operation. This allegation is baseless and baseless.

Chowdhury Mamun, when asked about the fact that his mother was arrested on the complaint of a Facebook status of an expatriate abroad, said, "I want to clarify this matter." We have received intelligence information that a conspiracy is underway to sabotage the house of Amir, a Naib of Jamaat-e-Islami in Khulna and to worsen the law and order situation. We conducted a raid on the information gathered by many and arrested three people. Among them one woman and two men. Later we came to know that the woman's son is an expatriate, so he posted a status about Sayedi on Facebook. We got the information and conducted the operation. There we got digital devices, books, mobiles. A case has been taken in light of this. It was by no means a purposeful arrest.
