One detained with 408 sacks of fertilizer illegally stored in Rangpur

The police arrested a person named Hafizur Rahman along with 408 sacks of fertilizer illegally stored for sale in the black market in Rangpur. Meanwhile, a truck loaded with fertilizer was seized.

Kazi Muttaki Ibnu Minan, Deputy Commissioner of DB Police, gave this information at a press conference organized at the Metropolitan Police Intelligence Office in the Central Road area of Rangpur city on Wednesday (September 6) afternoon.

The detained Hafizur is the son of late Abdul Hares of Kalikapur village of Putimari Union in Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari.

The Deputy Commissioner said, acting on secret information, a raid was conducted in the new truck stand area of Rangpur city on Tuesday (September 5) night. At this time, 373 bags of TSP and 35 bags of potash fertilizer kept in a yellow truck were seized.

Fertilizer owner Hafizur Rahman (35) has been arrested in this incident. Estimated value of seized fertilizer is Tk. 5 lakh 30 taka 400.

Hafizur Rahman said during police interrogation that he bought this fertilizer from several dealers for the purpose of selling it in the black market. The dealers involved in the sale of fertilizers are Anisar Rahman and Rafiqul Islam of Pirganj, Mostak Ali of Mithapukur, Ashikur Rahman of Pirgacha, Tariqul Islam, Ranju Mia, Mojahedul Islam of Taraganj and Feroz Alam of Rangpur.

According to the police, there is an acute shortage of fertilizers in Rangpur during the Amon season. That is why preparations were being made to transport the fertilizers by truck.

In this incident, a case has been filed against the fugitive fertilizer traders including fertilizer trader Hafizur Rahman under the Special Powers Act.
