Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said, in this era of globalization, militancy, transnational organized crime and new crimes are threats to national and international security. Currently, dealing with crimes like cybercrime, money laundering, counterfeit currency, terrorist financing etc. is a challenge in global policing. Instead of traditional policing, technology-based smart policing has become essential to meet the challenge of global crime.

The IGB said this while addressing the chief guest at the inauguration of a day-long workshop titled 'Curriculum Development of Smart Policing' at the Police Staff College Bangladesh (PSC) International Conference Center (ICC) on Tuesday (September 19).

Rector of Police Staff College Principal of Bangladesh Police Academy Sardar Mir Rezaul Alam was the special guest on the occasion chaired by  Mallik Fakhrul Islam. PSC MDS (Academic and Research) SM Aktaruzzaman gave the welcome speech. In the workshop, MDS Md. Matiur Rahman and Md. Golam Rasul presented articles highlighting various aspects of smart policing.

The heads of all training institutes of Bangladesh Police participated in the workshop. Apart from this, the faculty members of Police Staff College were present in the workshop.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said, "The Prime Minister announced smart policing on January 3, 2023 at the 'Police Week 2023' event in Rajarbagh. Digitization in policing will help curb terrorism, extremism and other technology-based crimes. Bangladesh Police has succeeded in suppressing terrorism and militancy. In the future, this capacity of the police will be increased."

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said, "Today's workshop will be helpful in formulating a smart policing curriculum suitable for Bangladesh Police."

In the speech of the president Mallick Fakhrul Islam said, "PSC has drafted a curriculum on 'Smart Policing' to develop a theoretical basis for smart policing practice, which will be finalized through this workshop."#
