State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam said that even if the European Union (EU) does not send an observation team for the 12th National Parliament Election of Bangladesh, it will not affect the acceptance of the election.
He made this comment in response to questions from journalists at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital on Thursday (September 21) evening.
Stating that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet been informed by the European Union, the State Minister said that the moment it is informed, you will be informed. At the time, he said, even if the EU observer does not come, there will be no impact on the acceptability of the election. Past elections said so.

He said that our relations with the European Union have deepened over the last few years. After that dialogue with Enrique Mora, we went to the European Union last March. They had a meeting with the vice-presidents of five departments. On the return trip, we talked to a couple of people, some of whom had come and visited.
He also said that you have seen that our relationship with the European Union is very deep in the overall sense. Last November, the first political talks were held in Padma on the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-EU relations. Also, there is no scope for oversimplifying the sending of election observers.
At this time, the State Minister called upon the journalists to determine the truth in the news dissemination and said that the European Union has its own challenges. We already know that whether they will come to the election or not, this is a big criterion for sending representatives of the European Union.
