After the government, opposition parties and law enforcement agencies, the media will also be involved in the visa policy of the United States, said Peter Haas, the country's ambassador in Dhaka.

He said this in a media interview on Sunday.

Earlier on Friday (September 22), the US State Department announced in a statement that it would impose visa restrictions on those who would disrupt the democratic election process in Bangladesh.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement that the State Department is taking steps to impose visa restrictions on Bangladeshi individuals responsible for or involved in undermining the democratic election process. These include members of law enforcement agencies, members of the ruling party and members of the political opposition.

"Our action today reflects the continued commitment of the United States to support Bangladesh's goal of holding peaceful, free and fair national elections," a State Department spokesperson said. It will also work to support those who want to advance democracy worldwide.

Earlier, on May 24 this year, the US Secretary of State announced a new visa policy for Bangladesh. He clarified the country's continued monitoring of free, fair and peaceful elections there.
