A delegation of US-funded International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) is visiting Bangladesh on October 7. The six-member delegation will stay in Bangladesh till October 13.
Earlier, Brian Schiller, Press Attaché and Spokesperson of the US Embassy in Dhaka, told reporters that the pre-election observation delegation will speak to representatives of the Election Commission of Bangladesh, various government agencies, political parties, citizen observers, civil society organizations, and women's and youth organizations.
Members of the delegation will also talk to local and international media organizations of Bangladesh and representatives of foreign embassies and high commissions working in Bangladesh.
The delegation will also make a statement after the visit. If they have any concerns about the conduct of the elections, they will also mention any practical recommendations.
