EC will invite 50 countries to observe the vote

Meanwhile, the European Union, Commonwealth, African Electoral Alliance, NDI (National Democratic Institute) and an Australian citizen have expressed their desire to come and observe the upcoming 12th Jatiyo Sangsad (JS)elections.

Election related organizations of different countries of the world, in which the Bangladesh Election Commission is a member, will also be invited to observe the vote this time. Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) has invited about 50 countries of the world including Russia and India in this list.

Countries include Russia, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan and Afghanistan.

On the other hand, the World Election Body, Fambosa, SAARC, Chairman of the Association of African Election Authorities, Secretary General will also be invited.

Applications have been invited to embassies through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the arrival of foreign observers. Last date for application is 21 November. Several EC sources confirmed that various countries and organizations have already applied.

In this regard, EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said that the meeting will be held tomorrow Monday (November 13). That's where the finalists will be invited. We will invite the electoral bodies and countries that have invited us.

Director of Public Relations of EC Shariful Alam said that various countries and organizations have already expressed interest. At the individual level, some have also expressed interest in poll monitoring.

EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said in this regard, we will also select those who are applying. It will be finalized by December 15. Many people are contacting us. But everyone wants to know the polling date because they will prepare accordingly. But we can't say that right now. Applications can be processed only after the schedule is finalized.

In the 11th National Assembly election, 38 observers from different organizations of the world came to observe the election. Besides, 131 diplomatic-officers from various embassies observed the vote. Election commissioners said that the schedule of the 12th national parliament election may be announced this week. And the parliamentary elections will be held from the end of December to the first week of January.

Meanwhile, the EC published the final voter list for the 12th parliamentary elections. It can be seen that the current total voters in the country are 11 crore 96 lakh 91 thousand 633 people. According to the information given by EC, among the total voters, male voters are 6 crore 7 lakh 71 thousand 579 and female voters are 5 crore 89 lakh 19 thousand 202 people. And 852 Hijra voters. About 1 million polling officers will be appointed to organize the upcoming 12th general elections.
