14 foreign missions will work to protect human rights in Bangladesh

14 foreign missions in Dhaka, including the United States and the United Kingdom, have reiterated their commitment to protect human rights in Bangladesh. The foreign missions announced their commitment in a joint statement on Sunday (December 10) on the occasion of International Human Rights Day. The US Embassy in Dhaka released a joint statement on their Facebook page.

The statement said, "Today is International Human Rights Day. On the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we reaffirm our support and solidarity with those who work to protect human rights, fundamental freedoms and equality for all, and highlight the fundamental role democracy plays in promoting the protection and development of human rights. Our commitment to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights will remain unwavering.

The joint statement was signed by the embassies of Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union.
