Ahead of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad(JS) elections, the Election Commission (EC) has approved the proposal to promote 19 Inspectors of Police to Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP).
The EC gave the approval on Monday (December 11) following a proposal by the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry.
EC Deputy Secretary Mizanur Rahman has sent a letter in this regard to the Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division.
It is said in the letter that during the 12th JS elections, 19 'Police Inspectors' have been recommended for promotion to the post of 'Assistant Superintendent of Police', so no objection has been requested for the purpose of transfer/posting to the proposed post before issuing the promotion notification.
The Election Commission has given no objection to the proposed transfer/posting of 19 officers promoted to the post of Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Earlier, the Election Commission approved the proposal to transfer 110 Upazila Nirbahi Officers and 338 Police Station OCs.
Besides, on Sunday, the EC ordered to recall the Police Commissioners of Barishal and Sylhet and the police superintendents of Habiganj, Pirojpur, Noakhali, Satkhira and Meherpur and the Deputy Commissioner of Brahmanbaria.
