Two more metro rail stations in the capital are being opened today to ease traffic congestion. From now on, after Farmgate, Secretariat and Motijheel, two more stations will be added and a total of five stations will be operational.
Passenger movement of Dhaka University and Vijay Sarani Metro stations will start from 7:30 am on Wednesday (December 13). Meanwhile, only two stations remain closed from Uttara to Motijheel.
These are Karwan Bazar and Shahbagh Station. These two metro stations can also be opened in the middle of next January. Earlier, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited Managing Director MAN Siddique gave this information at Pravasi Kalyan Bhawan in the capital on December 7.
MAN Siddique said that all metro rail stations will be opened within the month of January. Vijay Sarani and Dhaka University metro stations will be inaugurated on January 13. If all the stations are operational, the extension of metro service at night will be considered.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Agargaon to Motijheel section of the metro rail on November 4. The next day, on November 5, metro rail service started from Uttara to Motijheel. However, at present it is running till 11:30 am upto Motijheel. And from Uttara to Agargaon the metro rail is running till 8:30 pm earlier.
