7 coaches of the Mohanganj Express train from Mohanganj bound for the capital Dhaka were derailed due to a severe accident on the cut railway line. Mokhlesur Rahman, police member of Dhaka Railway Police Control Room, confirmed this to Barta24.com.
He said that around 4.20 am on Wednesday morning, 7 carriages including the engine derailed in an accident on the rail cut outside Bhawal Gazipur railway station in Gazipur. Police constable Mokhlesur Rahman confirmed the death of one person immediately at the scene. He said that the number of casualties may increase.
The railway police is considering this incident as sabotage and this policeman said, "Since the railway line is cut. Then that kind of incident (sabotage) seems to be the case.
About the rescue operation, he said, "Sub Inspector in charge of Joydevpur Railway Outpost, Sreepur Thana Police and members of the law enforcement forces have joined the rescue operation."
