Letter to EC seeking transfer of 79 more police inspectors

The Ministry of Home Affairs has written to the Election Commission (EC) seeking permission to transfer 79 Inspectors of Police (OC) 14 days before the 12th Jatiya Sangsad elections on January 7.

A source from the Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed this information on Saturday (December 23).

According to the source, letters have been sent to 30 inspectors (armed), 46 inspectors (unarmed) and 3 inspectors of the city and traffic wing of the police department seeking consent for transfer or posting.

Meanwhile, Election Commission Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said that the OCs of Jhenaidah's Shailkupa and Harinakundu police stations have been withdrawn due to allegations of carelessness and negligence in discharging their duties.

He said that any type of complaint will come to the Election Commission. Any video clip or evidence will be sent to concerned Returning Officer and SP. Then action will be taken according to their investigation.

The Election Commission held a meeting on Saturday regarding the clashes between the supporters of the candidates in Rajshahi and Jhenaidah regarding the 12th Jatiya Sangsad elections.

When asked about this, the Additional Secretary of the commission said, "The officials in charge of Shailkupa and Harinakundu police stations have been withdrawn due to negligence in fulfilling their duties. In the investigation report of the incident that happened there, evidence of inactiveness of 2 OCs were found.
