Attempts to stop elections by burning people in the name of strike-blockade will not be accepted, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

She said these things during the greeting exchange ceremony with representatives of the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas at Ganabhaban on Sunday (December 24) noon.

The Prime Minister said that people are being burnt alive by setting fire to the railways. My question is what they (BNP) are achieving by burning people to achieve political goals. I want this kind of conflict to stop.

Sheikh Hasina said that people will stop the election by burning and looting the benefits, it will not work on the soil of Bangladesh. Burning people alive like this is a great sin and injustice. This injustice can never be accepted. No cleric accepted it.

Stating that Awami League came to power and built a non-communal country, the head of government said that people of all religions will practice their religion freely in this country. But no politics will be allowed using religion.

The Prime Minister said, we are working for the overall development of the country. I have delivered electricity to every house. We are making homes for the landless and homeless across the country. Not a single person will remain landless and homeless in Bangladesh. It applies to everyone irrespective of religion, caste, party.

She said, the goal of the Awami League government is to build a social system where equal rights are ensured for all.
