Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to Pirganj in Rangpur today on an election tour.
On Tuesday (December 26) at 3 pm, she will address the election rally at Pirganj Government High School ground.
The Prime Minister's visit is to seek votes for the 12th Jatiya Sangsad elections on January 7. Also, Sheikh Hasina will meet family members at her residence Laldighi Fatehpur and exchange greetings with close relatives including visiting her husband's grave.
Pirganj Upazila Awami League general secretary and municipal mayor Tajimul Islam Shamim told the media that party candidate Abul Kalam arrived in Taraganj from Syedpur in the morning. After Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury Duke's public meeting, he will come to Laldighi Fatehpur of Pirganj village. After visiting her husband's grave there, Sheikh Hasina will spend time exchanging greetings with her relatives. Then in the afternoon will join the public meeting at Pirganj Government High School ground.
She said that upazila Awami League has completed all preparations to welcome Sheikh Hasina and make the public meeting a success. In this public meeting, there will be a massive gathering of people from every ward with slogans and about 2 lakh people including Awami League leaders and workers from nearby Gaibandha, Dinajpur and Rangpur will come to the public meeting.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a public meeting at the same ground in Pirganj on December 22, 2018. Earlier, on December 31, 2013, he held a way side meeting at Tarfmauza High School grounds and a staff meeting at Fatehpur Joysad in Laldighi.
On the arrival of the Prime Minister and the daughter-in-law of Pirganj, the entire upazila is dressed up; posters and making are being carried out.
Sheikh Hasina's public meeting with Awami League nominated candidate Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury and district Awami League leaders held an extended meeting under the leadership of Awami League Central Committee Organizing Secretary and Rangpur leader Sujit Roy Nandi to make Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury the winner.
Before this, the speaker of the eleventh JS election Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury was elected from this constituency as Awami League and Grand Alliance candidate.
Necessary security measures have been strengthened in view of Sheikh Hasina's arrival. Various intelligence agencies and security personnel including SSF, NSI, DGF, Army, BDR and Police are continuing surveillance since Saturday night to provide security to the Prime Minister.
