Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) arrested 11 people including Dhaka University Jatiyatabadi Chattra Dal(JCD) President Khorshed Alam Sohel and Krishak Dal Joint Convener Mehdi Hasan Palash.
Detective police say they have been arrested on charges of trying to disrupt the election.
After the arrest of Khorshed Alam Sohail and Mehdi Hasan Palash, according to the information given by them, the police raided Prime Printers in the capital's Kataban and recovered more than 50,000 leaflets. 9 more people were arrested from there on Wednesday night.
DMP Additional Commissioner (Investigation) Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid confirmed the operation on Wednesday (December 27) night.
Referring to the initial interrogation of the arrested persons, he said, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and other central leaders had stockpiled these leaflets and gun powder for the purpose of arson.
He also said that more than 200 cocktails could be made with these gun powders. 20 cocktails and petrol are also available.
So that no one goes to vote on January 7, that information was being disseminated in leaflets. They are doing anti-state, anti-constitution, anti-country work. This officer of Metropolitan DB Police also said that no one is exempted if he tries to create an arson attack.
