Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to Barishal today Friday (December 29) as part of the campaign for the 12th Jatiya Sangsad elections.
The Prime Minister will leave Dhaka for Barishal by plane at 9 am. She will address the election rally at the historical Bangabandhu Udyan in the divisional city at 3 pm.
The mood of the festival is prevailing in the district as well as the entire division based on the Prime Minister's visit. People from all walks of life including Awami League leaders and workers of the district are eagerly waiting to welcome Sheikh Hasina.
Local leaders said that the party president will give important instructions in her speech. They hope that the rally would turn into a sea of people and that it would be the biggest rally in the history of Barishal.
All the preparations have already been completed, including the construction of a huge stage at the venue. Security has been beefed up ahead of Sheikh Hasina's arrival, with various intelligence agencies and security forces keeping vigil to ensure perfect security since a week in advance.
Prime Minister will go to Gopalganj from Barishal in the afternoon. She will return to Dhaka on Saturday evening.
