The Bangladeshi flagged ship MV Abdullah, which has been captured by pirates in the Indian Ocean, has anchored about 20 nautical miles from Garakad port on the Somali coast. However, the pirates have not yet contacted the ship owner.

Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers Association has informed this information about the International Maritime Bureau.

The general secretary of the association, Engineer Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain, confirmed the matter at 1 o'clock on Thursday (March 14).

He said, "The ship is anchored 20 nautical miles from Garakad on the coast of Somalia. But so far there has been no communication from the pirates. I think it may take another 2-3 days or more to get a response from them.'

The vessel named 'Golden Hawk' was renamed as 'MV Abdullah' after joining the fleet of SR Shipping Limited, a subsidiary of Kabir Group of Bangladesh. Somali pirates took control of the ship on its way from Maputo port in Mozambique to the United Arab Emirates at 1.30 pm Bangladesh time on Tuesday. The ship has 55 thousand tons of coal. All 23 sailors on board are Bangladeshis. Family members were in contact with the ship's sailors until Tuesday evening. Many sent voice messages to share their situation. But since then, not knowing about the family members, anxiety is working between them though they are being repeatedly assured by the government and the owners.
