The Bangladeshi flag ship MV Abdullah had at least 25 days of food before it was captured by pirates in the Indian Ocean. The ship also had plenty of fresh water, about 200 tons, before it was hijacked. But gradually it is decreasing because the ship's food and water consumption has now doubled. About the same number of pirates joined the Bangladeshi 23 sailors. Most worrisome is that the Pirates are swallowing the larger amount even as the Mariners play less.

Merchant Navy Captain Atiq UA Khan gave this information about the pirates. The captain has been keeping in touch with the sailors since the ship fell into the hands of pirates.

Quoting the sailors, Atiq UA Khan said, "All the sailors of the ship are physically healthy. They are doing Sehri, Iftar and praying in congregation on the bridge. The ship's chief cook is cooking 2-3 meals for about 50 people along with another person. The sailors play less, but the pirates eat more. Yesterday (Wednesday) everyone was on the bridge but today everyone is allowed to go to the cabin during the day. But at night, we will probably have to return to the bridge.'

Stating that the consumption of food and water has doubled due to pirates, Atiq UA Khan said, "The food that was said to last for 25 days, may be gone after 11-12 days." When 200 tonnes of water is exhausted, rationing or cost cutting will begin. It is difficult to say at this moment whether the pirates will provide quality food or water. But it will definitely not be of the same quality as the ship. They can also reduce the amount of food.

Worry about food was also seen in the voice of the Chief Officer of the ship, Atiq Ullah Khan. In an audio message sent to the family on Thursday afternoon, he said, "There is still a rush" because pirates are eating and drinking with us, using our water. Our eating and drinking may go hard for 10-15 days. Then when the food and drink are finished, when the water is finished, I will fall into trouble. This is our situation.

Atiq UA Khan said that the MV Abdullah anchored 7 miles from the Somali coast around 3:00 PM Bangladesh time and added, "The ship's sailors have performed all duties, the pirates are only guarding with arms." The chief officer, Bossan (Sareng) and a common seaman went to the fore of the ship to anchor.'

A new group of 15-20 people have joined the pirates, Atiq UA Khan said, a new group of 15-20 people with heavy weapons have arrived from Somalia to join the old ones. They also have an English speaking interpreter with them. The main languages of the pirates are Somali and Arabic.

A warship followed the Bangladeshi ship since early Thursday morning. From there, a helicopter was flown in and blank shots were fired. Confirming the matter, Atiq UA Khan said, "Since Thursday morning, a European (probably) warship was following the MV Abdullah." Name Eurofour Atlantic or nearby. A helicopter also took off from that warship and fired several rounds at Abdullah, firing blanks. But the pirates didn't seem to mind. They know that as long as the sailors have hostages with them, there is little chance of an attack. Later an Indian warship also joined it. Both ships have followed up to the Somalia coast and are staying nearby.
