Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader commented that all the friendly countries including India, did not elect us by voting, they stood by us to resist the conspiracy to thwart our vote.

He made this comment while addressing as the chief guest at the Iftar and Eid gifts distribution event organized by the Dhaka District Awami League at the Dhaka District Awami League office in Tejgaon on Saturday (March 23).

Obaidul Quader commented that the people of Bangladesh have won Sheikh Hasina with more than 41% of the votes, which is not the case even in many developed countries. 'Still they say brought from India'! Where is India! People of our country have voted. They didn't vote for us. They stand by us to prevent vote foiling.

Awami League General Secretary said, BNP organized Iftar party and Awami League distributed Iftar items. They have iftar parties and we have iftar parties. This is the difference between BNP and Awami League. The initiative taken to distribute Iftar among common people should be spread throughout Dhaka city.

Obaidul Quader commented that there are questions among people about the increase in the price of goods, although now the prices of some products are decreasing. Onion has come down to Tk.30. The prices will come down further and will come within the affordability of the common man.

He said that the propaganda that I have heard since the Pakistan period, when there is no political issue, only one issue is brought against Awami League. Earlier it was brought against Bangabandhu and now it is brought against Sheikh Hasina that is the issue of opposing India.

Commenting on 'surprising one party BNP', the Bridge Minister said, one leader said, you have helped to make Bangladesh independent. Another says boycott Indian products. Now the leader of this party has no consensus. Moin Khan says one thing, Rizvi says another thing! Fakhrul Sahib from Singapore said another thing!

Also present at the time was the member of the presidium Advocate Qamrul Islam, Prime Minister's Advisor on Private Industry and Investment Salman Fazlur Rahman and others. Dhaka District Awami League president Bir Muktijodha Benazir Ahmed presided over the iftar distribution ceremony and general secretary Paniruzzaman Tarun moderated it.
