Savar National Memorial is being prepared to celebrate the achievement of independence. The memorial and the entire surrounding area have been covered with tight security by law and order forces, and increased intelligence surveillance. Apart from this, the final preparations are being made by the public works department in charge of the memorial. The entire area of the monument is being washed and cleaned with beautification. The National Memorial has been covered with a canopy of colorful wildflowers. There are scratches on the stairs and various structures in the square.
About 3,000 policemen will be deployed in plain clothes along with intelligence surveillance in the surrounding area from Aminbazar of Savar on Dhaka-Aricha highway to the national memorial to ensure smooth movement of visitors to the memorial.
It is known that in the first hour of the day, the President, Prime Minister and various diplomats, war-victims and people from all walks of life will pay their respects to the brave martyrs by placing flowers on the martyr's altar.
King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan is also scheduled to attend the independence ceremony at the memorial.
Mizanur Rahman, Sub- Assistant Engineer of the Public Works Department in charge of the memorial told Barta24.com that lakhs of people, including the President, Prime Minister, members of the council of Ministers and foreign diplomats, will lay wreaths at the national memorial on Independence Day. That is why the Savar Public Works Department has been washing and cleaning the National Memorial for almost a month, decorating it with colorful flowers. Cleaning the memorial area is being carried out. All our activities are nearing completion, which will be completed within today.
Regarding the general situation of the memorial area, the Member of Parliament for Dhaka-19 Constituency Muhammad Saiful Islam said that the memorial has been completely prepared on the occasion of Independence Day. Now any last minute problems are being looked at and work is being done on the problems. The entire work will be completed by March 26. The law and order situation is under complete control. Hope the great Independence Day will be celebrated very peacefully this time.
Various measures have been taken to welcome the national leaders who come to pay their respects to the martyrs at Savar National Memorial. In this regard, Saiful Islam said, on the occasion of Independence Day, we have illuminated the multi-storied government buildings along the road including the whole Savar. Lighting work is going on gradually. Banner festoons are underway to welcome the national leaders. We will welcome the top leaders of Awami League by putting up a banner festoon till the night of 25th March.
