Three people were killed and five were injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-powered Mahendra and a passenger bus in Hazambari area of Shalikha upazila of Magura district.
The accident occurred on Friday (March 29) night.
The three deceased are Madhu Sikder (55), son of deceased Kalipada Sikder (55), Nirupa Rani Dey (50), wife of Nitai Dey, and Pushpa Rani Dey, wife of Narayan Chandra Dey of Narkel Bariya area of Bagharpara police station, Jashore district.
5 people injured in this accident are being treated at Magura and Jashore hospitals. The houses of all the victims are in Narkel Bariya area of Bagharpara police station in Jashore district.
According to eyewitnesses and police sources, the dead and injured were going home after a religious ceremony at Sreepur Upazila Sadar of Magura. On the way, a passenger bus collided head-on with a CNG-powered Mahendra carrying them at Hazambari area of Shalikha upazila of Magura. In this accident, two women died on the spot. Doctors declared Madhu Sikdar after he was taken to 250-bed hospital.
Magura Highway Police Officer-in-Charge OC Gautam Chandra Mandal said the injured have been rescued and sent to hospital. He further said the matter is under investigation.
