The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police is monitoring whether the banned student organizations in Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) are active in the name of student movement.

On Sunday (March 31) in the afternoon while talking to journalists at his office on Minto Road in the capital, DB chief Mohammad Harun Or Rashid said this in response to a question.

The current president of various banned organizations and students' camps is shaking the stick behind the protesting students in BUET. When asked whether the detectives have any information in this regard, the DB chief said, "We are monitoring the matter." Our team is there. We are investigating the incident; legal action will be taken after investigation. He also said that no one has been arrested in connection with this movement so far.

Earlier, on Saturday (March 30), Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, in response to questions from journalists after the program organized at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital, said that if any militant group secretly conducts activities in BUET, it will be investigated.

Referring to BUET, the Education Minister said that a few days ago, many people complained that some militant groups were secretly conducting activities there. There was such a discussion. We will investigate it more deeply.

Before that, on the night of March 28, general students started a movement with 6-point demands from noon the next day (March 29) around the entry of Central Committee leaders of Chhatra League in the BUET campus. As a program of the movement, the students are observing a class-examination boycott program from yesterday Saturday.

BUET administration has canceled the hall seat of 21st batch civil engineering student Imtiaz Rabbi in view of the incident that took place on March 28 midnight on the campus.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Chhatra League is holding a rally at the central Shaheed Minar to demand the introduction of systematic student politics in the BUET campus.
