Dhaka: Akmal Hossain, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Health said that 700 people were killed and 19,000 were injured nationwide in the anti-discrimination student movement.

He confirmed this information in a press briefing at the Secretariat on Wednesday (September 11) afternoon.

Akmal Hossain said, "The Ministry of Health has taken measures to provide proper treatment to those who were injured in this movement. Also arrangements will be made for those who need to be taken abroad.

He also commented that it is not possible to solve the 16-year problem in health care so quickly.

The Secretary said, "The health protection law finalized by the Awami League government will be presented in the Advisory Council meeting within the next week for approval." #
