Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is coming to Dhaka on the invitation of Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government.

He will reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday. After almost 11 years since his arrival in Bangladesh, a Malaysian Prime Minister is going to visit Bangladesh. According to diplomatic sources, political, economic and labor market issues will be important in Anwar Ibrahim's current visit.

This information is known from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. An official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Prime Minister of Malaysia will stay in Bangladesh for a very short visit of only two and a half hours.

According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is visiting Islamabad from Wednesday to Friday. After taking over as Prime Minister in November 2022, he went to Islamabad for the first time on a state visit. There he had a bilateral meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

According to the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, the Prime Minister of Malaysia will come to Dhaka from Islamabad on Friday. He will sit in a bilateral meeting with the Chief Adviser of the interim government. A joint press conference will be held after the meeting of the two top leaders. Apart from this, Anwar Ibrahim will also have a courtesy meeting with the President of Bangladesh Mohammad Sahabuddin.

Recently, Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain said in a press conference that Bangladesh will seek Malaysia's assistance in dealing with the ongoing Rohingya crisis. It is also expected to advance the aspirations of becoming a 'Sectoral Dialogue Partner' within the ASEAN framework.

A joint statement will be issued later as per the itinerary. According to the schedule, the Prime Minister of Malaysia at the Banga Bhavan will meet Mohammad Sahabuddin. Anwar Ibrahim is the first head of government to congratulate the interim government after assuming office. The Malaysian Prime Minister is scheduled to leave Dhaka around 6 pm after completing his one-day visit.

After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5 in the coup of the students this will be the first high-level visit by a foreign head of government since the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus took power.
