Sheikh Hasina's former Principal Secretary is on 7 -day remand

The court granted 7-day remand to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's principal secretary Abul Kalam Azad and businessman Humayun Kabir, treasurer of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League, in the Jubo Dal leader Shamim murder case.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman's court granted the remand after the hearing on Sunday (October 6).

Earlier, Sub-Inspector Tanmoy Kumar Biswas of Paltan Model Police Station, investigating officer of the case, applied for their 10-day remand.

Lawyers for the accused applied for bail seeking cancellation of remand. The state party opposes it. After the hearing, the court ordered remand.

Abul Kalam Azad was arrested from Dhanmondi in the capital on Saturday (October 5) evening.
