Dhaka: Former Principal Secretary and former NBR Chairman Najibur Rahman has been arrested by the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. DMP Additional Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick confirmed the information.
Najibur was arrested from Dhaka on Sunday (October 6) night. He is likely to be produced in court on Monday (October 7). However, it was not confirmed in which case he was arrested.
In 2015, Najibur Rahman was appointed as the Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Secretary of the Internal Resources Division. On 31st December 2017, he was made the new Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office.
He is a 1982 regular batch administration cadre officer. During his career, he also held the responsibilities of the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forests and the Division of Statistics and Information Management and the Director General of the Directorate General of Environment. #
