Trial of political parties: Draft ordinance approved

The Advisory Council of the interim government led by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has approved the draft of the International Crimes Tribunal Amendment Ordinance. This will allow the International Crimes Tribunal to recommend action against political parties on charges of crimes against humanity.

The draft was approved at a meeting of the Advisory Council chaired by the Chief Adviser at the Secretariat on Wednesday (November 20) afternoon. Almost all the advisers participated in this meeting, the first held at the Secretariat after the formation of the interim government.

It is learned that the Advisory Council has approved the draft of the International Crimes Tribunal Amendment Ordinance raised in the meeting with the proposal that the International Crimes Tribunal will be able to recommend the trial of political parties on charges of genocide.

After the formation of the interim government, regular meetings of the Advisory Council were held at the Chief Adviser's residence Jamuna and the Chief Adviser's office, but this was the first time that the meeting was held at the Advisory Council conference room at the Bangladesh Secretariat, the center of administration.
