Dhaka City College and Dhaka College administrations have announced that classes will be closed on Thursday due to clashes between Dhaka City College and Dhaka College students.
The administrations of the two colleges confirmed the matter with two notices on Wednesday (November 20).
A short notice signed by City College Principal (acting) Professor Kazi Neyamul Haque said, "Due to unavoidable reasons, all classes will be closed tomorrow, Thursday (November 21)."
On the other hand, the notice signed by Dhaka College Principal Professor AKM Elias said, "Due to unavoidable reasons, all classes in the college will remain suspend tomorrow, Thursday (November 21). However, it was also stated that offices and departments will remain open and scheduled exams will be held as usual."
It is noteworthy that students of Dhaka College and City College got involved in clashes over the vandalism of Dhaka College buses. Chasing and counter-chasing continued intermittently throughout the area until 5:30 pm.
More than a hundred students from both colleges were injured as the army lathicharged and law enforcement forces fired tear gas shells to control the situation.
